Country Music’s 2010 Grammy Winners

If you caught last night’s Grammy Awards Show you probably weren’t too surprised by many of the wins in the country music categories, and even a few in the mainstream spots as well!

Current country superstar Taylor Swift took home one of the top prizes of the night when her album “Fearless” snagged Album Of The Year, beating out Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, and Dave Matthews Band.
The Best New Artist award went to one of my favorite new bands of 2009, Zac Brown Band, who beat out Keri Hilson, MGMT, Silversun Pickups, and The Ting Tings.

Taylor Swift’s Performance at ‘Hope for Haiti’

Taylor Swift performed a cover of Better Than Ezra’s ‘Breathless‘ at last night’s Hope for Haiti telethon, which was telecast nationwide on more than 30 networks.
With probably very little time to prepare, she ended up doing a great job with a song she’s not used to performing!
The event was broadcast live from Los Angeles to over 30 major networks, including CMT. Funds were raised to benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF, and Yele Haiti Foundation.

Taylor Swift Has A Relaxing Month

Taylor Swift has taken some time off this January, and has apparently enjoyed it as fully as possible! She recently uploaded a bunch of pictures of family and friends to her Myspace blog, as well as a rundown of all that she’s done over the last two weeks.

Taylor writes a “thank you” to January and the time that she’s had to spend with her loved ones, and the pictures she took with her new camera are sweet too, including one with Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, and race car driver Tony Stewart (above).
“Thank you January. I have had this month off. …read more

Taylor Swift is the top-selling digital artist ever

In terms of history, digital downloads haven’t been around all that long. However, in the time that digital charts have mattered as much as traditional sales charts, it’s Taylor Swift who tops everyone else as the best-selling digital artist overall.

To date Taylor has sold over 24 million tracks online with the singles “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story” ranking as the two most-played songs of 2009. As if that weren’t enough, Nielsen SoundScan listed her in the top 10 artist streams online with over 46 million plays so far.
No wonder “Fearless” was the top-selling album of 2009!

Taylor Swift at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards

Taylor Swift walked away a winner yet again at last night’s People’s Choice Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Taylor received the award for Favorite Female Artist, beating out Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Britney Spears and P!nk. Though I was rooting for Carrie it’s nice to see a country singer take it just the same!
About her win, Taylor said:
“What a beautiful beautiful way to start out a new decade,” said Swift. “I want to thank the fans. You’re the ones who choose what songs on the radio you want to blast on the car speakers and what concerns you’re going …read more

Taylor Swift Takes Top Song of 2009

With a list of accolades now a mile long, this one will come as a surprise to no one! Taylor Swift’s hugely successful single, “You Belong With Me,” has taken the top spot as Disney’s #1 song of 2009.

The single, which was released to country radio last April, spread like wildfire and peaked at #2 when it crossed over to mainstream radio.
The single’s video, as if we could forget, also snagged Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in the fall.

Billboard’s Top Country Hits of 2009

Billboard’s Top Country Hits of 2009

With the end of another year upon us, it’s time for the “best of” and “top” lists to make the rounds, and Billboard has released their findings for the top country hits of 2009 for us.

Leading pretty much all the charts, unsurprisingly, is Taylor Swift, who, as I mentioned yesterday, has had a phenomenal year. Her sophomore album Fearless not only debuted at #1 on the charts, but has so far gone quintuple-platinum, and is still sitting at #1! It debuted in November 2008 and was the first album to sell one million copies in 2009. It also managed to …read more

Taylor Swift Tops the News in 2009

Taylor Swift Tops the News in 2009

There’s no doubt that 2009 was the year of Taylor Swift! The blond beauty topped the news not only for the massive amounts of awards she won — including the coveted Entertainer of the Year — but also for an on-stage spectacle caused by an egotistical blowhard.

She also graced the covers of magazines, released a set of singing dolls that bear her likeness (as much as a Barbie doll can, anyway!), swept the AMAs, the CMAs, appeared on Saturday Night Live, and sold out her solo concert tour in near-record time.
There’s also talk that she and her Valentine’s Day co-star …read more
