Flashback Friday: John Michael Montgomery

January 23, 2009 by Heather

John Michael Montgomery’s “I Can Love You Like That” has turned out to be one enduring song!

Released in March 1995, the song debuted on the country charts at #59 and hit the number one spot in April. It hung there for a week before being replaced by a Brooks & Dunn single, but hit again in May for two more weeks.

It was covered by R&B group All-4-One that same year where it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tim McGraw’s “Let It Go”

I love Tim’s current single, “Let It Go.” The above fan-made video also includes quite a bit of eye candy!

“Let It Go” is currently sitting at #15 on Billboard’s Hot Country charts.

George Strait Performs ‘Troubador’ Live

August 27, 2008 by Heather

One of my old favorites, George Strait, performing “Troubador” live at the Baltimore First Mariner Arena.

“Troubador” is George’s seventy-ninth Top Ten single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart! You can catch the just-released music video on Youtube.

Flashback Friday: Lonestar’s ‘Amazed’

August 8, 2008 by Heather

Lonestar’s ballad “Amazed,” off their “Lonely Grill” album, hit #1 on the charts in July 1999 and spent eight weeks there. It was the longest running hit country song since 1966’s “Almost Persuaded” by David Houston! It even crossed over to pop radio but only got as high as #24.

It was then remixed in 2000 and re-released to mainstream radio and shot back up to #1 where it stayed for two weeks. This made it the first song to top both the country charts and Billboard Hot 100 since 1983’s “Islands in the Stream” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

It’s since been covered by multiple other artists, including Bonnie Tyler, a Dutch band called K-otic, a Dutch singer named Floortje Smit, Duncan James, and the Dancing DJs.

Keith Urban’s “You Look Good In My Shirt”

July 23, 2008 by Heather

Proud new papa Keith Urban’s current single, “You Look Good In My Shirt,” is sitting at #6 on the Billboard list this week. Think it’ll make it to #1? I don’t see why not!

The above concert is from March when Keith performed at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. “You Look Good In My Shirt” starts about halfway in after some fancy guitar work.

Flashback Friday: Garth Brooks

June 27, 2008 by Heather

It’s that time of year to find a beach and a tasty beverage! The first song that came to mind is Garth’s hit “Two Piña Coladas,” set to an amusing slideshow (I can’t find a music video for it anywhere - does one exist?).

It hit #1 on the Billboard Country Charts in 1998, having debuted on his album “Sevens.”

Flashback Friday: Clint Black

June 13, 2008 by Heather

I thought this week’s Flashback Friday was appropriate! It’s Clint Black’sSummer’s Comin’,” a hit from 1995.

It hit the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks and was the third single released from his album “One Emotion.”

The video features Howie Mandel (with hair!) trying to find a woman without any luck. Cameos include Joey Lawrence, Clint’s wife Lisa Hartman Black, Jay Leno, George Kennedy, Dick Clark, Gerald McRaney, and David Hasselhoff.

Flashback Friday: Faith Hill “Let’s Go To Vegas”

May 16, 2008 by Heather

Faith Hill in plastic pants and line dancing mobsters! Who doesn’t want to go to Vegas?

Faith’s “Let’s Go To Vegas” hit in 1995 and only climbed to #5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs but I’d say it’s one of her more enduring singles!

Flashback Friday: Joe Diffie’s “Third Rock From the Sun”

April 18, 2008 by Heather

Third Rock from the Sun” was the first single released from Joe Diffie’s album of the same name in June 1994, and hit the top spot on The Billboard Hot Country Singles not long after.
