Martie Maguire and Emily Robison rename The Dixie Chicks
January 16, 2010 by Sherry
Now that the news has broken that Martie Maguire and Emily Robison are recording a new album without Natalie Maines, more information is coming out.
Not only has the duo become a trio, at least for now, Martie and Emily are giving themselves a new name. At this point they’ll become Court Yard Hounds. The Dixie Chicks hit the studio for new album – minus Natalie
It’s always confusing when you get a good news/bad news situation because you don’t know whether to be happy or sad. The good news is The Dixie Chicks are recording a new album to be released for an as yet undisclosed date. The bad news is that the album will not feature lead singer Natalie Maines.
Sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison are working on the new album together and right now Natalie’s father Lloyd Maines says that there is no formal decision at this time as to the fate of The Dixie Chicks as a trio.

Flashback Friday: The Dixie Chicks

“There’s Your Trouble” by the Dixie Chicks was released in 1998 from their album Wide Open Spaces.
It became their first #1, as well as Sony Records’ Monument Records first hit since 1978! The Chicks were awarded a Grammy in 1999 for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for the performance.
I wish we had more news on what the Chicks are up to — their website has no updated information for either tours or headlines, and no further album news since 2006’s Taking the Long Way.

Maguire, 38, is married to Gareth Maguire, a professor. Their first children together were twin daughters Eva Ruth and Kathleen Emilie, who were born in April 2004. “I’m feeling good now, although I wasn’t!” Maguire jokes. “Carrying one instead of two will be much easier.”
