Taylor Swift, Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler to Host CMA Music Fest

Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, and Julianne Hough will all be hosting the CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock on Monday, September 8 on ABC.

Filming Thursday through Sunday during the annual CMA Music Festival, the special features country acts during a four-day party and music celebration in Nashville.

Some of the artists slated to appear include Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Jewel, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Dwight Yoakam and surprise appearances by other country stars.

2008 CMT Awards Nominations

The CMT Awards are country music’s only fan-voted awards program. Online voting began Tuesday and ends February 25 for the awards.

On Thursday, March 6, CMT will announce the four finalists in each of the 13 categories, except Video of the Year. Fans can then vote online at CMT.com through Friday, April 11 to determine the winners. The final nominees for video award will be announced at the beginning of the live show, and fans can vote at CMT.com throughout the live broadcast to pick the winner.

The awards will be held live Monday, April 14 on CMT and CMT.com.

The nominees are:

(best video of the year; awarded to the artist (male, female, group/duo or collaboration) and the video director.

Carrie Underwood Tour Info

Carrie Underwood has announced plans for a tour apart from Keith Urban. Their “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour” starts January 31, and Carrie will be launching her own tour in February with Josh Turner as her opening act.

“I’m so excited to be hitting the road and doing the full show of my music that I have always dreamt of doing,” said Underwood. “I have been so fortunate to learn from so many other great artists while touring with them, and they have inspired me in so many ways. They have helped me to get to this stage of my first real headline shows, and now I finally feel ready. I can’t wait to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada and see all my fans.”

The first round of the Carnival Ride Tour dates go on sale this Saturday, January 12, with more dates to be announced soon:

Josh Turner to join the Grand Ole Opry

Josh Turner will be formally inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on October 27, just three days before his next album release on the 30th.

Josh first debuted in 2001 with “Long Black Train” and is now up for Male Vocalist of the Year at the CMAs next month.
