‘You Belong With Me’ Music Video Debuts This Week

June 24, 2009 by Heather

The music video for Taylor Swift’s current hit single, “You Belong With Me,” will make its television debut this week on GAC.

The schedule includes:

* June 25, 2009 9:30 PM ET
* June 26, 2009 1:30 AM ET
* June 26, 2009 1:00 PM ET
* June 26, 2009 7:00 PM ET
* June 27, 2009 11:00 PM ET

The song is about the narrator who observes a male friend having a strained relationship with his girlfriend. She tries to convince him that he should leave his girlfriend for her, by saying that her feelings and their relationship are more meaningful than his girlfriend’s.

I have to admit, there are quite a few things about the song that remind me of Saving Jane’s ‘Girl Next Door,’ which has been around for several years now. What do you think?

Reba McEntire’s ‘Strange’ Music Video

June 1, 2009 by Heather

Last week we got to see some behind-the-scenes of Reba McEntire’s newest single “Strange,” and the video has now been officially released!

In the song, she’s just been broken up with by her boyfriend, but come to find out she’s not as terribly shaken up by as she thinks she should be, which she facetiously says is “strange.”

The single is off her upcoming album Keep On Loving You, which hits stores this August!

Flashback Friday: Tim McGraw

May 15, 2009 by Heather

Tim McGraw’s #1 hit single “Everywhere” is from his 1997 album also titled Everywhere. The narrator of the song reminisces about a lost love, saying that she’d be surprised all the places he sees her, because in his heart he sees her everywhere.

The song has actually gotten Tim in some legal hot water. In 2007, songwriter James Martinez filed a lawsuit against McGraw, Reid and Wiseman for $20 million dollars, claiming he had given a demo titled “Anytime, Anywhere Amanda” to the defendants and that the similarities between the two songs are substantial.

McGraw’s lawyers are confident the case will be thrown out, but in August 2008 the lawsuit was transferred from Texas to the federal district court in Nashville, Tennessee and is still ongoing.

People Are Crazy

May 4, 2009 by Heather

I think this is my newest favorite song — Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy,” from his 2008 album Little Bit of Everything.

The music is catchy and the “story” is amusing! It talks about two guys who meet at a bar and get to talking about everything under the sun, coming to the eventual conclusion that “God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.”

The narrator sees the stranger in the obituary section not too long after and discovers that he had been a millionaire, and has himself done something “crazy” with his fortune upon his passing.

What do you think - do you like the song?

Kenny Chesney Debuts “Out Last Night”

May 2, 2009 by Heather

Kenny Chesney debuted the video for his newest single, “Out Last Night” on Myspace this weekend. Talk about a catchy tune - I can’t get it out of my head!

About the decision to debut it on Myspace, Kenny says:

“It seems to be that Myspace.com is what FM radio was when it took hold. Back when, it seemed like all the new music, all the stuff you’d want to discover was on FM radio stations where the total music junkies were hanging out - waiting to see what’s next.

“I know a lot of my fans are using social networking as a way to stay connected, to communicate with each other…to check out music and swamp bands,” he said, “and it’s a pretty exciting thing to get out there where you can feel the fans. It’s straight into their hands - and having the greatest fans in the world, this seemed like a way to give them the clip when they want it, where they want it.”

The video was filmed on location in Miami, Florida, and was inspired by a real night-out with co-writer Brett James over Christmas.

Taylor Swift’s “Crazier” Music Video Debuts

March 28, 2009 by Heather

The music video for Taylor Swift’s “Crazier” has been released! The song is on the soundtrack for the upcoming “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and clips of the movie are featured in the video.

Taylor wrote the song herself and appears in the video performing on stage at a small country dance.

The soundtrack, which also features performances from Rascal Flatts and Billy Ray Cyrus, was released this past week and the movie will be in theaters April 10.

Alan Jackson Debuts “Sissy’s Song”

March 24, 2009 by Heather

CMT debuted what is sure to be Alan Jackson’s next hit single, Sissy’s Song. It’s the fourth single released from his Good Times album, and holds a lot of special meaning for Alan and his family.

The beautiful ballad is dedicated to Leslie “Sissy” Fitzgerald, who worked in the Jackson household and with Alan for many years. She died in a motorcycle accident in May 2007, leaving behind her husband (who also works for the Jacksons), as well as a son and daughter.

Jackson wrote the song after a restless night and gave it to the Fitzgerald family for the funeral:

“I didn’t sleep for a while,” said Jackson. “So, I sat down one day and wrote this song and after that I felt all right. A lot of people told me how much it made them feel better and helped them get through it a little easier, so I was very proud of it.”

The video was shot at the Bear Creek Church in Culleoka, Tennessee, and was actually a place of worship and safety for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War.

One of my personal favorite Garth Brooks songs is “The Thunder Rolls,” which debuted on his No Fences CD and has been included in every compilation since. Read more

If You’re Going Through Hell…

March 4, 2009 by Heather

I’ve got several friends going through some pretty tough things right now (and I know they’re not the only ones!). Rodney Atkins’ “If You’re Going Through Hell” just came on the radio so I dug it up on Youtube — I think it’s pretty appropriate!
