Bomshel’s “Fight Like A Girl”

April 20, 2009 by Heather

I think little-known country duo Bomshel has a hit on their hands with “Fight Like A Girl!”

I just heard the single on the radio this morning and loved it. Bomshel, which is comprised of Kelley Shepard and fiddle player/harmony vocalist Kristy Osmonson (aka Kristy O.), have been around since 2004, though with a different lead singer and, unbelievably, no released albums under their belt.

In all they’ve got four singles: “It Was an Absolutely, Finger Lickin’, Grits and Chicken, Country Music Love Song,” “Ain’t My Day to Care,” “Cheater, Cheater,” (which was later performed by Joey + Rory), and “Fight Like A Girl.”

What do you think of the song?

Brad Paisley’s “Then”

April 17, 2009 by Heather

I don’t think Brad Paisley has released a single song I haven’t liked, and his newest hit “Then” is definitely on that list!

Then” was released just a few weeks ago and is the first song off Brad’s upcoming album American Saturday Night, which will be released on June 30, 2009.

In the song, the narrator expresses his love for his girl, saying how much stronger his love has become since their first meeting, when he “thought I loved you then.”

And now you’re my whole life
now you’re my whole world
I just can’t believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it’s ever been.
We’ve come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

What do you think? Do you like the single?

Flashback Friday: Garth Brooks

August 15, 2008 by Heather

I think “What She’s Doing Now” is one of my favorite Garth songs! It’s hard to have just one because so many of them are great, but this one’s definitely at the top of the list.

It tells the story of an old flame and wondering what she’s doing and how, even though he doesn’t even know where she is, she still affects him every day. It’s a song I think many people can identify with!

The single was originally released at the end of 1991 and is the third release of Garth’s Ropin’ the Wind album. It ended up spending four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks in 1992!
