June 4, 2009 by Heather

troubadorKing George has another platinum album under his belt!

George Strait’s current album, Troubadour, has officially gone platinum, having sold 1 million units. The shiny award will join the 32 George already has!

George has the most RIAA platinum certifications in country music and third across all genres, behind only The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Amazing, and very much deserved!

George’s current single, Living for the Night, is from his newest upcoming album, Twang, due out this fall.

This weekend, George will be joined by Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Julianne Hough at the inaugural event at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium. The stadium sold-out in less than one hour!

George Strait’s ‘Troubadour’

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of George Strait’s newest album, “Troubadour” yesterday. I almost squealed at the mailbox and put it in my CD player as soon as I got in the door, and I listened to it twice before I did anything else.

It’s fantastic! There are a couple of tracks that aren’t my favorites but overall I’d say it’s one of George’s best, which isn’t saying much because all of his past albums have been fantastic as well! My favorite track was “It Was Me,” an aww-inducing ballad about love at first sight. The upbeat “West Texas Town” also tops my list, as did “House With No Doors.” I also like “I Saw God Today,” which has been on the radio a lot the last few weeks as the first single.

Troubadour” hit stores today!

XM Satellite Radio Goes ‘Strait Country’

March 12, 2008 by Heather

XM Satellite Radio has announced that beginning April 1 George Strait will be getting his own channel, called “Strait Country,” on channel 17! The launch date is made to coincide with the release of Strait’s 37th album “Troubadour.”

“It’s always a thrill to hear one of your songs played on the radio, but to have XM Radio dedicate an entire channel to my music is just amazing. I’m hoping fans and the millions of XM subscribers will enjoy hearing the new music from ‘Troubadour,’ as well as revisiting their favorites from years past,” said Strait.

It’s not a permanent station, sadly, but will be available until May 31. Nothing to fear, though - the station will be packed with George Strait music, interviews with George, his friends and family, and other programs that celebrate Strait’s influence on country music. Tracks from “Troubadour” will also be highlighted every hour.
