Wynonna Clarifies Taylor Swift Comment

Outspoken country artist Wynonna Judd quipped last week that she thought it was “too soon” for 19-year-old Taylor Swift to have been awarded the top award at last week’s CMA Awards when she was presented with the Entertainer of the Year.

Wynonna says now that she didn’t mean to take away from Taylor’s win and that Taylor has made some great contributions to country music in her short time in the spotlight:

“I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement,” she wrote. “My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry, all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of any age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard-working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.”
